Abstract: Mercury thermometer with spherical bulb. Circular unnumbered graduations on stem, with sliding-scale in brass and silver gilt. Scale is marked on silver gilt part 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, the renge from 0 to 5 being divided into 25 parts. The reverse of the brass is inscribed 'Fortin Place Sorbonne Paris 1786'. There is a knotted silk loop at end for suspention
