Thermometer, Réaumur, filled with spirit (coloured red), in wooden frame (painted in two colours). The scale begins on right at -50° and goes to 125°, but the 110° mark is indicated as 'eau bouillante'. The scale on the left begins at 99,5 and goes to 101,25. On both scales a division corresponds to one degree. There are various other indications opposite different temperatures on both scales. At the top the instrument is inscribed: 'Thermométre selon M.r Réeaumur, par Cappy' at the base 'Rue & Place Royale Paris 1768'. The bulb and the stem are sunk in the wooden frame and the scale is marked on wood. Some of the markings go across both scales. |
