(1775-05-17): Letter of Parent fils to Lavoisier requesting that Lavoisier send material he has collected from the mineralogical map of France to Dupain-Triel. Lavoisier replies on May 24.

(1775-07-01): Letter of Magellan to Lavoisier containing criticism of a manuscript (a memoir on a new method of distillation) which Lavoisier had sent on May 17.

(1775-08-17): Letter of Turgot to the Académie urging that a prize to be opffered for the most advantageous process for producing saltpetre.
(1775-08-19): Five commissioner appointed August 19 for the investigation of saltpetre (Macquer, d'Arcy, Lavoisier, Sage and Baumé). A program for the prize is drawn up by Macquer.
(1775-09): Begins work on saltpetre. Analysis of "cendres salpetriers" and "cendres de tourbe" (peat ash)
(1775-09-15): Death of Jean Antoine Lavoisier, father of Antoine Laurent.
(1775-09-26): Mother liquor of nitre - its decomposition by potash.
(1775-10): The commissioners rent "une mission en jardin et un grand hangar dans le faubourg St. Denis" in which to perform experiments.
(1775-10-01): Letter of Lavoisier to l'abbé Baudeau on the King's intention to introduce new means of obtaining saltpetre. Through the church Lavoisier hopes to gain publicity for the plan, which is certain to be popular with the people.
