(1778-04-08): Second reading (revised version) of the famous memoir of Easter 1775 Sur la nature du principe qui se combine avec les métaux pendant leur calcination. P-V, 1778, fol. 126.
(1778-04-09) (1778-05): An expedition for the Régie des poudres takes Lavoisier and Clouet into "a partie des provinces de France" (Especially Touraine and Saintonge) to examine earth samples for sources of saltpetre.
(1778-05-30): At the Académie "M. LeRoy a lu un lettre de Lavoisier pour prendre date." P-V, 1778, fol. 170.
(1778-06-10): Lavoisier, in Bretagne, probably still on expedition for the Régie des poudres, inpects the mines in the company of the duc de Chartres
(1778-06-14) (1778-07-07): The Journal de Paris prints preliminary report on findings made by Lavoisier and Clouet on their trip. Lavoisier replies on July 7.
(1778-07-04): Extensive report of Lavoisier, de Milly and Fougeroux on a process for disinfecting cesspools, developed by Laborie, Cadet and Parmentier.
(1778-07-24): At the Académie: reading of the memoir De la combinaison de la matière du feu. This memoir was initialed by Condorcet on September 5, 1777.
(1778-08-09): A letter from Lavoisier to Franklin thanking him for agreeing to lend his assistance to the reconstruction of the gunpowder magazine of the Arsenal.
(1778-11-18): At the Académie "M. Lavoisier a demandé des commissaires pour examiner plusieurs de ses mémoires. MM. Macquer et Bucquet on été nommés." P-V, 1778, fol. 315.

(1779): Publication of L'art de fabriquer le salin et la potasse issued by the Régie de poudres and probably written by Lavoisier.
(1779): Lavoisier acquires a new kind of barometer constructed by Mégnié.
(1779-02-16) (1779-02-17): Study of reaction of nitric acid and sugar. Analysis of fractions of gas collected; neutralization of acid deposited (oxalic acid).
(1779-03-13): At the Académie "M. Lavoisier prend date pour un mémoire sur l'acide du sucre." P-V, 1779, fol. 66.
(1779-03-24): Le Roy presents a report of the commission investigating reconstruction of the powder magazine at the Arsenal. The study had been promted by a request from Lavoisier representing the Régie de poudres.
(1779-05-15): Lemonnier, de Bory, Lavoisier and Bossut report to the Académie on a diving bell designed by Coulomb. They feel the apparatus is promising and should be submitted to pratical tests.

(1780): Publication of the Atlas et Description minéralogiques de la France. After Guettard's retirement the project had been handed over to Monnet, inspector general of mines, who failed to give Lavoisier proper credit for his share of the work.
(1780): A manuscript in Lavoisier's hand reporting on Meusnier's method of calculating wall thickness required to resist the explosion of a given quantity of gunpowder. Meusnier's memoir had been prompted by an earlier report (by Franklin, Le Roy, Perront
